To Join

We are always interested in meeting new singers who:

1) Sing in tune.

2) Are highly proactive in singing with artistry and expression--the first time, every time.  We strive for the highest level of artistry of which we are capable.  We expect singers to be proactive in:
    * Applying strong/weak to words
    * Singing dynamics as written
    * Having energy and a sense of direction in the vocal line
    * Singing entrances and cutoffs with precision and courage
 

3). Have a healthy vocal sound, and possess basic choral skills, including: 
     * Using both straight tone and vibrato
     * Demonstrating a resonant and varied range of tone colors from bright to dark
     * Modifing vowels appropriately
     * Using proper breath support
     * Listening carefully to blend and balance with other singers
      

4) Are excellent sight-readers who learn the notes/rhythms on their own time, and come to rehearsal ready to refine and polish the music. In Bel Canto, singers do not come to rehearsal to learn the music; they learn it on their own time, and come to rehearsal to make the music come to life. We don't routinely provide any part-learning resources; we expect you to do that on your own time and in your own way.

5) Are team players who want to sing in a happy, supportive, loving, enthusiastic, genuine environment. We take the music seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously.  We laugh a lot, talk with each other, develop friendships, offer love and kindness to each other, and look at Bel Canto as our safe, happy little weekly choral spa--a beautiful and peaceful place--an escape from the world for 90 minutes each week.
